Eastwood Town won their first competitive match since October 29 as they disposed of Sutton Town in the Notts Senior Cup on Wednesday night.

In a lively encounter, the Badgers fell behind just eight minutes in when Jason Edwards slammed the ball home, but three minutes later David Haggerty bundled in an equaliser.

Edwards was then red-carded on 28 minutes after handling Markel Bailey’s shot on the line. Bailey stepped up to score the penalty and put Eastwood in front.

But Craig Mitchell was to have the hosts level at 2-2 before the break when he tapped home from close range.

That’s how the scores stayed until 70 minutes when the Badgers finally took control.

Francis Green capitalised on a defensive lapse to make it 3-2, before another penalty was awarded and Bailey again did the honours from the spot.

Bailey then completed his hat-trick on 82 minutes with a powerful effort, and despite Mitchell pulling a goal back late on, the result was safe and Eastwood progressed.
