Busy start to the year for Kimberley SC

KIMBERLEY Swimming Club began the new year with a busy January, competing in a gala almost every weekend.

The first saw swimmers travel to Worksop to take part in the first round of the Minor Gala League.

Kimberley were up against some tough opposition but came away with a fourth place finish, only one point away from third.

First place finishes on the night went to Elise Yorston (girls 10/u 50m free) and Mollie Wright (girls 12/u 200m free).

New personal bests were set by Jasmine Fahy, Matthew Shipley (2), Leah Roulstone, Holly Orme, Jack Brown, Nathan Venn, Charly Neilson, Elise Yorston, Amie Cheese, Luke Lindley, Josh Housley, Scott Lindley, Georgia Petch and Greg Brown.

The following weekend was the first round of the Spring Competition held at Retford.

Swimmers of all ages were able to take part in this gala and helped Kimberley to take third place overall.

First place winners on the night were Emma Clements (girls 14/u 100m breast), Lauren Gill (girls open 100m back), Adam Gregory (boys 12/u 50m free), Mollie Wright (girls 12/u 50m free), Sam Jervis (boys 14/u 100m back) and the relay teams of Lizzie Shaw, Lauren Wright, Natalie Watkinson, Lauren Gill (girls open 4x50m free) and Isabelle Jervis, Georgia Townsend, Rebecca Matthews, Freya Bexon (girls 9/u free & 9/u medley relays).

New PBs were achieved by Lizzie Shaw, Alfie Orme, Callum Williamson, Jack Brown, Adam Gregory, Jess Hawksworth, Daniel Scott (2), Natalie Watkinson, Mollie Wright, Ellie Poxon, Elliot Clements and Emma Stephenson.

The final gala of January was round two of the Minor Gala League held at Hucknall.

Kimberley faced some of the best teams in the county for this gala but the swimmers were never outclassed and fought bravely to manage fifth place.

Swimmers winning their races were Adam Gregory (boys 12/u 50m back & 12/u 50m breast) and Mollie Wright (girls 12/u 200m free).

PBs were achieved by Adam Gregory (2), Charly Neilson (2), Jessie Henderson, Jamie Barnard (2), Beth Lowe, Elise Yorston, Josh Shipman, Matthew Shipley, Jess Hawksworth, Greg Brown and Ryan Piggot.

The club now has one more gala before the start of the Nottinghamshire ASA County Championships that takes place throughout February and March.
