Champs Selston off and running

The Notts Senior League got back into action this week with champions Selston among those in action.

They began the campaign with a 2-0 win away at Kirton Brickworks, Wayne Cook opening the scoring just after the hour mark and Jay Cooper wrapping things up ten minutes from time - Kirton having Jordan Bellis sent off to help them along their way.

Tuesday then saw Selston head to Bilborough Town but this time they lost out by the odd goal in five.

Cooke was again on target, heading home Cooper’s free-kick at the back post on 35 minutes, but Bilborough got level on 73 from a rebound after keeper Nick Olden had initially pushed a header onto the crossbar.

Selston were back in front three minutes later when Cooper put Dominic Airey clean through on goal to chip over the keeper, but after Bilborough had levelled with a penalty on 80 minutes they stole the points in injury-time with a goal that Selston claimed was offside but which denied them a point.
