Mansfield League round-up: Musselwhite tears into Glapwell for leaders

Premier Section leaders Eckington pulled off a spectacular win against four-placed Glapwell in the Mansfield & District League on Sunday.

Glapwell had started off well, putting on 84 for the opening wicket. But Nathan Musselwhite then set about them, taking 5-23 as they were skittled out for 101.

Eckington then replied with 104-4 for a six-wicket success.

With Nicholas Smit scoring 119 and taking 3-38, Aston Hall (247-3) were too good for Welbeck (210), despite 71 from David Hunt.

Farnsfield (173-6) got the better of Hucknall (162-8), recording a winning draw, James Smith the pick of the players with 49 not out and 4-28 for Farnsfield.

Anston (242) had a comfortable win over Sheffield Collegiate (149), Amila Perera with 103 and 4-19 for Anston.

In Section One, home side Eastwood made 123, Callam Else then following up his 5-26 for Teversal with 83 not out in a winning reply of 126-5 to earn man of the match.

Frecheville (110) found leaders Grassmoor (111-0) far too strong, losing by 10 wickets. Chris Fletcher’s 65 not out Grassmoor’s best performance.

In Section Two, Parkhead (141-9) beat Blackwell (79) by 82 runs, thanks to Steff Lomas’ 5-21 for Blackwell.

Papplewick & Linby (100-2) made home advantage count in Section Three as they beat WELBECK (96) by eight wickets, Alex Hudson (5-18) responsible for Welbeck’s low total.

In Section Four’s only match, Papplewick & Linby (170-9) just failed to win, despite having 43 overs in which to bat against Waleswood (179), Masood Ahmed with 119 and 3-38 for Waleswood.

In Section Five Chesterfield put themselves in the promotion race without bowling a ball, gifted 20 points after their match at Wednesday had to be called off due to the ground not being available.

Bowlers had the best of the day as Shirebrook (98) beat Pheasant Hill (73) by 25 runs. For Pheasant Hill J. Islam took 5-18, and for Shirebrook Connor Tansley ended up with 6-7.

Dronfield Woodhouse (217) enjoyed a winning draw with Anston (146-7), Sai Narra scoring 119 for Dronfield.

In Section Six Chesterfield Barbarians (103) found visitors Edwinstowe (196-9) too strong as Patrick Delahunty and Lewis Birks both took three wickets each for Edwinstowe.

Clowne Town (227-4) entertained Swanwick (150) and won by 77 runs.

Pick of the performances was A. White (112 not out) and T. Lodge (40 and 6-5) with the ball for Clowne.

Sheffield Transport found a wet wicket difficult to bat on in Section Seven as they were all out for just 24 against Nomads, who won by eight wickets (25-2). Richard Caulton (6-9) and James Wood (4-11) enjoyed the conditions as 12 wickets fell for 49 runs in 18.4 overs.

Top of the table clash Grassmoor (223-6) just failed to reach WOODSETTS (227-6), falling just four runs short in a winning draw.
