Father and son star in Rome

Two members of Eastwood Taekwondo Academy have returned from the World Championsips in Rome with four medals between them.

The event lasts for five days with 33 countries taking part and 530 competitors.

Father and son duo Kerry Wilson 5th Degree and Brandon Wilson 1st Degree made the trip to Italy for the event and enjoyed great success.

Kerry took bronze for pattern in the senior section whilst Brandon, who is 14-years-old, won silver in the team special technique category and bronze medals in the pattern and sparring categories.

They helped Team UK (UKITF) finish third overall in the event, behind winners Argentina and second-placed USA.

Master Michael Wood 7th Degree, chief instructor of Eastwood TKA, said: “I’m very proud of these two students reaching this elite level and bringing back these medals.

“This was a very arduous prestige competition and for UKITF to attain this position in the World Championships was agreat achievement.”
