Priory Celtic’s senior side remain unbeaten in their first season in the East Midlands Public Authority League after a comprehensive 8-0 home win over Beeston Athletic.
Priory fired into a 4-0 lead at the break with Greg Wedge netting the first inside the opening quarter.
Killian O’Neill put away number two before Wedge added his second and Josh Stevenson added the fourth before the break.
In the second-half Liam Draper headed home Priory’s fifth from close range before Wedge completed his hat-trick from the penalty spot.
Dec Smith came of the bench to score with his first touch and Liam Miller completed the scoring late on as his cross was deflected in.
Priory travel to Brooks Villa on Sunday in search of a hat-trick of wins.
Last weekend saw the start of the Derby City League, Young Elizabethan and Notts Girls Leagues which gave plenty of Priory teams the opportunity to return to league action.
On Saturday the U16s travelled to Boulton Lane Park to record a comprehensive 3-1 win with a brace from Luke Hodgeman and a penalty dispatched by Josh Lack.
The U11s were no match for a very skilful Sherwood side who took the honours with a 2-0 win, however there was no such worries for Paul Newtons’ U9 Green side who returned from Edwalton Cavaliers with a thumping 11-0 win.
Priory’s two up and coming U8s both played at home, the Greens entertained a strong Dunkirk team, Benjamin Miles claiming the man of the match award, whilst the Whites played host to Wilford Maverick.
The U11 Greens recorded a 3-0 away win against Riverside FC, and the U12s had a very creditable 0-0 draw just over the border at Ilkeston.
The U13s produced a comeback to draw 2-2 after finding themselves two goals behind at Hucknall Warriors.
Chris Elvins’ U14s played Ravenshead Colts in a friendly fixture and warmed up well for the season with a 2-1 win.
The U10s entertained a talented Netherfield Boys team and though James Foster scored early on for them they eventually lost 3-1.
Under new management, the U17s produced a 7-0 away win at WB Tigers.
The U16 girls saw two Lauren Turner goals, one from an assist by Lucy Harris and another direct from a corner gave Priory a 2-0 win at West Bridgford Ladies.
