After the weather relented last Saturday, it was back to normal this afternoon as the rain returned to decimate the Central Midlands Football League programme again.

Only four matches survived, two in each of the senior divisions, which they produced 27 goals between them.

Selston’s amazing run continued as they recorded their 14th straight win in style with an 8-3 defeat of Mickleover RBL.

After great work by volunteers to get the game on, the visitors took a 15th minute lead through Piers Thompson.

Wayne Cooke equalised a minute later, before Dominic Airey, Carl Moore and Rory Davis put Selston well in control before Dave Moon added a second for the Legion.

Airey restored the three goal margin by half-time. with Cooke, Ben Moore and Carl Moore scoring in the second half for the home side, before Moon got a third for the visitors.

The win puts Selston five points clear with games in hand on all of their rivals.

At the other end of the table Southwell City went down 3-0 at home to Linby Colliery.

Linby ended their nine game winless run with goals from Damien Mann, Kaylum Mitchell and Jake Wright.

Southwell’s cause was not helped by the first half dismissal of their goalkeeper.

Harworth Colliery still leading the North Division on goal difference after an impressive 6-2 win over fourth-placed Appleby Frodingham.

Second-placed Phoenix were also among the goals as they beat Brodsworth Welfare 5-0 at Brinsworth.
