First defeat of the season for Kimberley

Long Eaton Sunday League

Bulls Head 3 AFC Kimberley 2

AFC Kimberley suffered their first defeat of the season at the hands of Bulls Head.

With a number of key players missing, AFC started brightly with Gary Pickering twice going close, the second time with a 30-yard effort which hit the crossbar, and Ant Harwood heading wide.

The deadlock was finally broken in the 41st minute when Mike Jones half-volleyed past the keeper to put AFC in front.

Bulls Head levelled early in the second-half, and took the lead ten minutes later when a controversial penalty was awarded which goalkeeper Rich Kelley couldn’t keep out.

The hosts’ third arrived on 69 minutes when the Bulls Head striker scored despite the attentions of Chris Ryan.

But it was 3-2 moments later when Jones found Pickering who finished emphatically.

Jones then had a goal disallowed as AFC fought in vain for an equaliser and the hosts claimed the points.
