48 hours after their victory over Bulwell, Selston sealed a 5-1 success over Pinxton.

The Central Midlands League South Division leaders beat Pinxton in the reverse of this fixture, 5-0 on Boxing Day.

Predictably, the opening exchanges were full-blooded and the game was tight with neither side creating anything in the early stages.

The tie came to life on 20 minutes when Carl Moore smashed home from outside the box to open up the scoring.

Towards the half-hour mark, Selston used the flanks to their advantage as Wayne Cooke slid home to put them two up.

Pinxton heads seemed to drop a little after this and just before the break the hosts scored again to effectively end any Pinxton resistance.

Moore slotted home a penalty after Sean Gregory was brought down inside the area.

Following the break, Selston pretty much had it all their own way, keeping Pinxton penned back from the off.

Just two minutes after the restart, Perry Marriott headed home unmarked from a corner to register the fourth goal for Selston.

For the second time in as many matches Gregory then scored a solo stunner before Pinxton nabbed a late consolation strike.

This result means Selston are seven points clear of second-placed Hucknall Town, with just nine games remaining.
