EASTWOOD’s young squad once again endured a tough afternoon as the Badgers fell to their tenth straight league defeat.

Histon are battling relegation themselves and the victory saw them jump several places in a congested bottom half of the table, but for Eastwood it was another frustrating day as they count the games until the end of a torrid campaign.

The hosts made the better start and Sam Andrew was called into action early on when Pelayo Gomez forced him into a save, before Jim Stevenson fired just over the top.

Histon had to wait until the 39th minute to make a breakthrough, when Dan Holman got on the end of Daniel Sparkes’ inswinging corner to put the Cambridge side in front.

The second-half saw Eastwood, having received a thorough dressing down from boss John Ramshaw at the break, twice test keeper Jorg Stadelmann but the hosts weren’t to be denied and extended their lead on 55 minutes.

Lewis Taaffe was the scorer, turning in another cross from Sparkes with ease.

And Sparkes, who had created the first two goals, was to have the final say in injury-time as his sweet strike beat Andrew all ends up and sealed the three points.
