Heanor Colliers FC are back in action this season and are delighted that a local business has agreed to sponsor them.

Heanor-based Kempy’s Cabs will be sponsoring the team, which plays its home games at Lockton Avenue,, and is affiliated with the Jolly Colliers pub.

The team will be playing its football this season in Division Three of the Alfreton Insurance Services Sunday League.

The first game of the season will be at home to Jacksdale Miners Welfare on Sunday, September 1.

Team fundraiser Kevin Wigley said: “It’s a new set-up here, we’re back playing this season and we’re hoping for a good season.

“We’re pleased that Chris Kemp at Kempy’s Cabs has agreed to sponsor the kit. It’s good to see him giving support to a local team and we wish his business all the best too.

“We’re mainly local lads. There’s one or two from Chaddesden and Eastwood but mostly it is Heanor.

“Anyone interested in playing can contact the Jolly Colliers and leave their details behind the bar.”

Midweek training takes place at Lockton Avenue.
