Watnall fencer Owen Jordan has benefited to the tune of £100 after his recent exploits ininternational competition.
Owen, 15, has been competing in epee fencing across Europe but has to fund all his travelling and equipment expenses himself.
Notts County Councillor Philip Owen has responded to the youngster’s appeal for support by presenting him with £100 from his Divisional Fund which helps local groups and individuals.
Cllr Owen said: “Owen has a great future ahead of him and there is every chance he can go on to fulfil his ambitions of representing Great Britain at the highest level.
“Owen is preparing to take part in the World Championships in Bulgaria next month and I am proud at what he has already achieved. Though my contribution is just a gesture of my support, he really appreciates it and every little counts.”
