IT was an interesting week for the Greasley bowlers, with two wins and two losses to report.
On Tuesday the 24th Greasley travelled to Beeston Unity Bowls Club. The result was a comfortable win for Greasley.
On Thursday the 29th Greasley were away to UNSSC in the 4 x 3 league.
The University green is always in good condition and a pleasure to bowl on.
Their team are very strong, particularly on their home green, and they gained a close but well-deserved victory.
One incident of note was the second ‘wrong bias’ of the season for a Greasley skip. He shall remain anonymous as I should not like anyone to think that I am trying to ‘pick’ on him.
It has to be said apart from that one rogue wood, his overall performance was impeccable and without his accuracy, the team would have lost by many more shots.
The following evening Greasley were at home in the 3 x 3 league to Standhill Bowls Club.
Greasley were beaten by only a few shots but their record in this league is played two, lost two.
Saturdays 3 x 4 match was against Proprietary Bowls Club.
As well as having a superb green, the Proprietary bowlers are a very sociable group.
An excellent game played in good spirit was one by Greasley.
The victory was largely due to the high scoring win of the rink of, skip Clayton Wardle, Ken (The Master) Clarke, John Armstrong and Ken Sheldon.
The next home match is on Tuesday the 7th, 6.30pm start.
