NUTHALL Northern Bowls Club has honoured the memory of its former players Frank Ellis and his son Nicholas by playing its annual competition for a special trophy provided by their family.

Nuthall’s two county players, Mark Lillycrap and Kevin Broadley, contested a competitive final which was won by the former by 21 shots to 15 after a total of 26 ends.

The winner was presented with the memorial trophy by Richard Ellis, the youngest son of Nicholas who died in 2010 of pancreatic cancer.

Nuthall Northern Bowls Club is keen to recruit players for its 2012 season and anyone interested in joining can contact secretary Brian Watson on 07809 116854.
