Young swimmers from Kimberley SC travelled to Braunstone Leisure Centre in Leicestershire on Saturday to compete in the final of the Leicester Diddy League.
This was the fifth year in a row that the team had qualified for the final and the club took along a large squad to experience the excitement of competing at this special event.
The swimmers were up against clubs from both East and West Midland areas and were the only team from Nottinghamshire in the final.
The evening started well with a superb win from Jessie Henderson in the nine-year-old firls 25m breaststroke, swiftly followed by Matthew Shipley winning the 10/u boys 25m freestyle.
Matthew then continued his winning ways by claiming victory in the nine-year-old boys 25m backstroke.
The next first place finishes both came from Mollie Wright, who was competing in this competition for the last time due to her age. Mollie finished on a high, winning the 12/u girls 50m freestyle and 12/u girls 50m butterfly.
Despite these being the only first places achieved by Kimberley on the night, a good amount of second and third place finishes helped the team to finish the evening in third place overall.
New personal best times were swum by Gemma Calder, Adam Gregory, Matthew Shipley, Charly Neilson, Greg Brown, Mollie Wright, Ryan Pigott, Josh Shipman and Jess Hawksworth.
The other swimmers who took part in the gala were Luke Snowden, Ben Hatton, Florence Orme, Alfie Orme, Hollie Orme, Callum and Aidan Williamson, Harry and Isabelle Jervis, Elise Yorston, Jamie Stephenson, Holly Mansfield, Owen Thatcher, Jade Duffy, Jade Calder, Jade Kennerell, Tyler Meads, Nathan Venn, Beth Lowe, Georgia Petch, Lauren Moore, Tom Oates, Jasmine Fahy, Courtney Butters, Leah Roulstone, Charly Pink & Georgia Headland.
The third place trophy was collected by Adam Gregory, Ryan Pigott and Mollie Wright on behalf of the club.
