It's mayhem-mings at Caythorpe for KICC
Caythorpe 184-6 beat KICC 1st XI 82 all out
Kimberley were boosted by having both of their county professionals, Samit Patel and Mark Footitt, available together for only the second time this season as they travelled to fast improving Caythorpe.
After winning the toss and choosing to bat, Caythorpe made a positive start.
Footitt came on as first change and quickly had Guy Welton and James Hawley caught in quick succession to leave the score on 39-2.
Josh Mierkalns added 63 before Patel trapped him lbw for 30. The same bowler also removed James Hartley with the score on 130, but Jim Hindson moved towards his fifty, finally reaching an unbeaten 64.
Footitt ended with 2-29, Patel 2-43, whilst Matt Wright bowled 13 overs unrewarded for 39.
Kimberley were disadvantaged when Jon Shaw had to leave the ground during the tea interval due to a family emergency and they were really up against it when Dan Mason and stand-in opener Mick Blatherwick went early.
The Caythorpe attack was spearheaded by the Hemmings brothers, Tom and James and they each claimed their second wickets as Kimberley slipped to 44-4.
And when Patel's cautious innings of 26 ended (yet another Hemmings victim), the game was all but dead and buried at 69-6.
Footitt hit two quick boundaries, before Tom Hemmings returned to polish off the innings for a paltry 82. Tom finished with 4-22 from ten overs, whilst James fared even better with 5-21 off 14.
KICC 2nd XI 115 all out lost to Carrington Cavaliers 1st XI 116-1
The second XI faced a daunting trip to play runaway Division B leaders Carrington Cavaliers, but made a bright start after being put in to bat.
Prabhdip Sidhu and Tom Beale put on 37 for the first wicket, until the former was bowled by Akhter for nine.
Beale went soon after for a nice little innings of 23 that included five fours.
Altaf then came into the attack and he soon reduced Kimberley to 69-5.
Jordon Lee hit three boundaries as he added 29 with Ian Wright, but Lee went with the score on 98 and at 110 Wright's stubborn resistence ended for a defiant 37.
Altaf then quickly mopped up the tail to end with 5-23 and Kimberley fell to a disappointing 115 all out.
Faced with such a low target, Carrington played freely and raced home in only 19 overs for the loss of one wicket.
Ahmed anchored the innings with an unbeaten 41 and eight fours from Akhter saw him undefeated on 47.
The only consolation wicket for Kimberley was taken by Ben Millington. No points gained from this game leaves the second XI deep in relegation trouble.
KICC 3rd XI 164 all out beat Ruddington 1st XI 36 all out
With the first and second XI's both with away fixtures, the third XI entertained Ruddington on Newdigate Street.
Danny Williams won the toss and sent his openers Paul Rockley and Chris Mozley out to bat.
And what a fine job they did against some lively Ruddington bowling.
Mozley was just beginning to enjoy himself when he edged behind for 29 after a 67 run stand.
Rockley continued to bat nicely, but he too was caught by the keeper after scoring 43.
With an inexperienced batting line-up, 93-4 looked a little shaky, but the small gathering of spectators need not have worried, as two talented teenagers added 56 runs in good time.
Gavin Huskinson hit a fluent 23 and fellow 15-year-old Ben Barsby looked set for a classy half century until the tail collapsed leaving him stranded on 47 not out.
Kimberley's total of 184 seemed about par on a good batting track with a short boundary to one side, but the bowling attack was this week missing leading wicket taker James Wilson.
Williams opened with a fiery burst, claiming 2-12 from his seven overs, highlighted by an excellent one handed catch at slip by Steve Tilley to dismiss Farook.
Martyn Stackhouse shared the attack at the other end having just returned from military duty and he proved more than an able deputy for Wilson.
In his first appearance for over a year, he bowled accurately and tidily and ripped through Ruddington to claim a career best 6 for 21 from nine overs.
With Daniel Huskinson picking up the final two wickets, Kimberley for the third time this season had bowled out their opposition for less than 40 runs.
At the half way point of the season they are now clear at the top of Division K and the prospect of promotion seems real.
Hoveringham 2nd XI 201-7 beat KICC 4th XI 110 all out
Paul Richardson's 4th XI played hosts to table toppers Hoveringham II, who were asked to bat first at Titchfield Park.
Becky Widdowson dismissed Griggs with the score on 25 and a wicket apiece for Connor Richardson and Richard Kelley checked Hoveringham at 73-3.
The arrival of Paul Lewis saw the run rate increase and 53 runs were added for the fourth wicket.
Two wickets fell with the total on 152, but Lewis then hurt Kimberley by pushing his score to 71 and the team total past the 200 mark. Alex Beale plugged away and ended with 2-44.
Two wicket maidens by Steve Campbell left Kimberley at 1-2 after three overs, before Ed Dilks and Connor Richardson (16) added 32 for the third wicket.
A middle order collapse then ensued as Kimberley slumped to 43-6. Dilks was next out for a top score of 31 and it was only thanks to 23 from Kelley and 21 from Pete Moore that enabled Kimberley to edge into three figures in this 91 run defeat.
Sunday - Derbyshire Cup
KICC 1st XI 211-9 beat Spondon 203 all out, Derbyshire Cup
After winning the toss on a hot, sultry afternoon at Newdigate Street, skipper for the day Jon Terry opted to bat first but was the first man to be dismissed with the score on 15.
Nick Langford joined Dan Mason and the pair built a solid 96 run partnership over 22 overs.
Langford went first, just as he had brought up his half century, aided by seven fours.
Mason at this stage had contributed 34 runs, being the more watchful partner.
Paldip Sidhu then helped add a further 60 runs for the third wicket until Mason fell for 61 off 123 balls.
This triggered a dramatic collapse, as seven wickets fell for only 20 runs scored, including that of Sidhu for 33.
Ashdown claimed four of those for 53 runs, as Kimberley closed their 50 overs on 211-9.
Mark Footitt opened the bowling for Kimberley and clean bowled both openers in his fourth and fifth overs respectively.
Kimberley had to rearrange their fielding early in the reply, with Langford taking over from injured keeper Mason.
Matt Wright bowled his ten overs straight through (1-29) and wickets for Richard Adams (2-19) and Dominic Wheatley (1-24) left Spondon at 103-5.
When Sidhu got rid of Windmill for 14, the visitors were 131-6, but Steve Kellogg was still going well.
He added 49 runs for the seventh wicket and had taken his side to the brink of victory as the 200 came up.
Cue Mark Footitt, as in the space of nine deliveries he knocked back the stumps of Kellogg (63), Lillie and Fisher to wrap up an exciting 8 run victory and earn himself a five wicket haul (for 34 runs).
Kimberley now have a home quarter-final tie against Lullington Park on July 19.
