Kimberley maintained their position at the top of the table with a narrow win at Magdala Amateurs on Saturday.

Magdala initially coped better with the strong wind but the first effort on goal came from Jake Fisher, as after being set up by Elliot Roulestone he saw his shot cleared by the keeper.

Shaw Hutchinson saw a shot from the edge of the penalty area deflected wide for a corner on 20 minutes, but Kimberley took the lead five minutes later when Fisher was fouled in the area by the Amateurs goalkeeper and picked himself up to score from the spot.

The second-half was all Magdala with Kimberley defending well until the 70th minute when Kenny Reeves’ unstoppable shot from outside the penalty area found the top corner.

A Hutchinson free-kick was saved but another free-kick then saw Josh Stevenson beat the keeper to the ball to score from close range.

Roulestone saw a late effort saved but the three points were safe without Kimberley being at their best.
