Kimberley quartet star for Nova

Four members of Kimberley Swimming Club have been competing in the Midlands Age Group Championships for the county elite squad Notts Nova.

The quartet took part in the championships over consecutive weekends and proceeded to secure plenty of medals between them.

In the 200m breaststroke Joseph Kingsland became the mMidlands champion and also came joint first in the 100m breaststroke, second in the 200m individual medley, second in the 400m individual medley, second in the 200m backstroke, second in the 400m free, fourth in the 200m free, fourth in the 100m back, seventh in the 100m freestyle, sixth in the 100m fly and seventh in the 200m fly.

Matthew Shipley came fourth in the 100m freestyle, fourth in the 50m free, fifth in the 200m back, seventh in the 100m back, eighth in the 400m individual medley, eighth in the 200m individual medley and tenth in the 400m free.

Jimi Knowles was fourth in the 200m fly, fifth in the 50m free, fifth in the 100m free, fifth in the 400m individual medley, fifth in the 100m fly, eighth in the 200m individual medley and eighth in the 200m free.

Bradley Francis was a finalist in the 200m fly, 15th in the 400mindividual medley and also achieved PBs in the 200m individual medley and 100m fly.

Results from the qualifying window have been used to form rankings and those eligible to enter the ASA Summer Nationals have been determined. Matthew Shipley has qualified for six events and Joseph Kingsland has qualified for one, while Kimberley’s Mollie Wright has also qualified for three events.

The championships take place from the 4-9 August at Ponds Forge in Sheffield.
