Kimberley swimmers produce winning start to gala

Kimberley swimmers got off to a winning start at the weekend in the first round of the Notts & District gala held at the Lammas Centre in Sutton.

The gala was for swimmers of all ages and despite the club being short of competitors in certain age groups, those who did swim put in an excellent performance to come out on top.

It was a closely fought gala throughout the evening and at the halfway mark three teams were in contention for the win, with Kimberley in second place.

But with a haul of first places in the second half of the gala, Kimberley just edged into the lead to seal their victory.

Swimmers who won their races were:

Greg Brown (boys 11/u 50m back), Sam Jervis (boys 15/u 50m free), Lauren Gill (girls open 50m back & girls 15/u 50m back), Harry Jervis (boys 11/u 50m breast), Mollie Wright (girls 13/u 50m free), Adam Gregory (boys 13/u 50m free), Robyn Beecham (girls open 50m breast).

Relay teams who won their races were:

Josie Henderson, Gemma Calder, Georgia Petch, Mollie Wright (girls 13/u free relay), Jessie Henderson, Jade Kennerell, Jade Calder, Elise Yorston (girls 11/u free relay), Alfie Orme, Greg Brown, Josh Shipman, Harry Jervis (boys 11/u free relay), Josh Forbes, Bradley Francis, Owen Thatcher, Matthew Shipley (boys 8/9 yrs free relay), Josie Henderson, Charly Neilson, Gemma Calder, Mollie Wright (girls 13/u medley relay), Josh Forbes, Alfie Orme, Harry Jervis, Greg Brown (boys 11/u medley), Katie Walker, Matthew Shipley, Elise Yorston, Greg Brown, Mollie Wright, Adam Gregory, Lauren Gill, Sam Jervis, Lauren Wright, Ben Barsby (mixed 10x25m cannon relay).

Swimmers who achieved new personal best times were Robyn Beecham, Jack Brown, Greg Brown (2), Ben Barsby, Jade Calder and Elise Yorston.

Kimberley are in action again on this Saturday (15th) in the second round of the Minor Gala League.
