League leaders Belper United were involved in an entertaining ‘derby’ on Alton Manor with visitors Holbrook St.Michaels.

The home side opened the scoring, Ben Litchfield tapping in at the far post, but Holbrook St Michaels hit back with two magnificent strikes from Dean Jones.

However, by half-time, United had restored the lead with goals from Jay Harrison and Adam Thorp.

The pace dropped in the second half but United looked comfortable at the back until the Saints’ Casey Bestwick swept home a left-footed volley to bring the scores level with 15 minutes remaining.

Bestwick went on to convert two late penalties to complete his hat-trick in a result that ultimately cost United their top spot.
