Eastwood’s Amy Beauchamp is celebrateing after becoming the new World Eightball Pool Federation World Champion.
The Phoenix Cue Sports player landed the prestigious trophy after winning the World Championship in Blackpool.
She beat Emma Wilkinson 8-4 at the Imperial Hotel to add to her European singles crown
She trailed early on, but from 4-3 down at the break she hit back with four successive frames to clinch her latest major title.
“I started off a bit sketchily and when I knocked in the black in the second frame, it did my head in,” said Beauchamp. “Thankfully, I managed to pinch the frame to make it 4-3 instead of being 5-2 down.
“But after the break I couldn’t have played much better,” she added. “It’s not really sunk in yet but I am sure it will over the next few days.”
Beauchamp becomes only the seventh ladies singles champion in the history of the event after: Linda Leadbitter, Thompson, Quick, Emma Cunningham, Lynette Horsburgh and Kirsty Davies.
The tournament featured 10 other players from the club with last year’s defending champion getting to the final 16, while Jo Coe got to the quarter-finals.
In the teams event Sarah Coxon and Kirsty Davies got to the semi-finals with Wales, who were beaten by a determined Northern Ireland team.
Amy Beauchamp’s England team went on to be finalists but were defeated by Jo Coe’s Northern Ireland Team in the final.
