Round-up by Mick Gorman
Congratulations go to the Greasley bowlers for winning the Tuesday 3 x 4 league.
Greasley travelled to Beeston on August 2 needing a victory to ensure gaining the title.
With two of the three rinks completed Greasley were just one shot in front of an excellent second-placed Beeston side.
The last rink to finish contained some of Greasley’s finest bowlers.
Skip Mick Kennerell has bowled very well all season, and he was ably assisted by Rob Rose, Bryn Chambers and Ken Clarke.
With both sets of club members watching intently, the Greasley four finished the last two ends, picking up five shots to put the result beyond doubt.
On Thursday the 4th Toton Lane Bowls Club came to Coronation Park to play a 4 x 3 match. Greasley bowlers were in fine form and won the match comfortably.
On Saturday the 6th, Greasley travelled to one of their favourite venues at Proprietary Bowls Club. A close match ended with a narrow victory for the home side.
The 3 x 3 league has proved to be very difficult for the Greasley bowlers. The loss at home on Monday the 8th to Carlton was the eighth out of ten matches, and relegation is inevitable.
The last home match of the season is on Thursday, August 18, 6pm start.
