A double-winning hockey team are just days away from starting their cup defence.
Epworth Ladies Hockey Club had a season to remember last term as they clinched the Division Six league and cup in fine style.
The senior side have been back in training for several weeks and are also using a full astro-turf pitch once a month in Scunthorpe to help them prepare for the tough challenge ahead.
Their first defence begins on Saturday against Appleby Frodingham in the cup - a trophy they have successfully held for the past two years.
The side, who were invited to play in a tournament in Hull at the weekend, start their league campaign in Yorkshire Five on September 21, at their home ground of Thorne Trinity Academy.
Prior to their season start, the team travelled to Hull to take part in a seven-a-side tournament.
They won three games, drew one and lost one to finish second in their league.
Having progressed to the semi-final, Epworth were defeated by Bridlington 2-0.
Some of the team’s highlights included scoring their first goal in 15 seconds as well as Abi Atherton making some strong saves in goal.
