Selston’s Molly Renshaw will be flying the local flag at the 20th Commonwealth Games this weekend.
Competitive action at the eagerly-awaited sports extravaganza got under way yesterday (Thursday).
The games will feature 6,500 athletes and officials from 71 countries who will compete in 17 sports spread over 11 days, finishing on August 3.
Molly, 18, trains at Loughborough University. She is in action tomorrow (Saturday) in the women’s 200 metres breaststroke category.
Molly missed out on the London Olympics in 2012 by the narrowest of margins but will be hoping to do well in the Commonwealth Games, where she will resume her battle in Glasgow with fellow England swimmer Sophie Taylor. The pair jointly hold the record for the fastest English 200m breaststroke swimmer.
