Priory’s U10 Greens exited the YEL Trophy in the cruellest way by losing on penalties to Gedling Southbank on Saturday morning.

In an enthralling cup tie the Greens took a first-half lead when Josh Etches scored early in the first-half, but Gedling equalised half way through the second-half to send the game to extra-time.

With seconds remaining Gedling missed a penalty after a handball, but they weren’t to be denied from the spot in the shoot-out as Priory missed three of their kicks and Gedling won 2-1.

The U9 Greens had an easier journey through to the second round of their respective competition with a 5-1 win over West Bridgford Galaxy, Joshua Caley starring with a second-half hat-trick, Bobby Watson and Tom Ellis also scoring.

In friendly mini-soccer action, Priory’s newest team, the U7 Greens (pictured) played their first ever practice match against Cotgrave, Tyler Beer claiming the man of the match award.

Owen Scattergood and Jake Dawes won the Under 8 awards.

Sunday’s action was virtually decimated by the harsh morning frost, though two games escaped the white out.

The U14s quickly went two goals ahead against Karimia thanks to Denis Surmaj and before half time they were 4-0 up with goals from Stephen Taylor and birthday boy Sam Rosier from the spot.

Will Munroe in the Priory goal kept Karimia out in the second-half before Marcus Dickinson rounded off the 5-0 win.

Priory’s U12 Greens fell to a 5-2 defeat against Karimia at Melbourne Park.

Priory’s game against the Australian touring side, Whitsun Sunday, was postponed and has been rescheduled for December 11 at Pelican FC, kick-off 7.30pm.
