Priory Celtic Round-up
Priory Celtic U9 Hoops got their best result since coming together last season with an 8-2 home win against Keyworth United Black.
After going 1-0 down in the first minute, the Hoops recovered with a goal from Josh Poxon, two from Alfie Gibbs and five from man of the match Ethan Coy.
Also putting in a good performance after going behind to an early goal were the U11 Greens. Two first-half goals from man of the match Isaac Morledge and second-half goals from Tom Ellis and Matthew Dickinson helped the team to a 4-1 win over Long Eaton United.
Priory’s U14 Girls were knocked out of the cup after a dramatic penalty shoot-out.
A goal apiece in the first-half took the game against Southwell into extra time, and after the teams couldn’t be separated, it was similar after the first five penalties until Southwell managed to win in sudden death. Priory goalkeeper Sian Langham was voted girl of the game.
Th U11 Whites managed their first win of the season at West Bridgford Galaxy in the YEL Trophy, with two goals from Ben Howarth and a goal apiece from Nathan Longdon and Cianan O’Kane sealing a 4-2 win.
Priory’s U12 Black squad continued their impressive start with a comprehensive 6-0 win in the first round of the cup against Gedling Town. Three goals from man of the match Liam Garner were assisted by strikes from Jayden Smith, Tyler Bread and Ben Griffiths.
In mini soccer both Sunday U8 squads enjoyed good results with the Whites visiting Awsworth Villa and the Greens entertaining Bilborough Town.
Oscar Trigg’s faultless defensive performance won him the Greens’ man of the match award.
The U7 Greens hosted Keyworth where Kurum Johal was voted man of the match.
The U8 Saturday squad took part in the Forest Festival.
After great wins in the group stage and the quarter-final, their run was ended in the semi-final where they were unlucky to lose 1-0 after totally dominating the game against Ravenshead.
Moorgreen Colts Round-up
The U15s were in action in the second round of the Notts FA Shield and ran out comfortable 9-1 winners, goalscorers being J Holmes (4) B Holmes (2), C Clarke, L Hallam and P Christdodoulou.
The U12 Whites started with just nine players at Radcliffe Olympic due to injuries and after being 7-0 down at half-time made a game of it in the second-half, conceding just one more goal.
The U10 Blues were at home to Toton Tiger Orange and a very strong performance saw first-half goals from Noah Hemsley and Jake Dale put them in control.
Moorgreen dug in in the second-half and a three-minute hat-trick by Jack Spittal sealed the win, man of the match going to Matthew Parker.
The U8 Blues were in a YEL tournament at the Nottingham Forest Training Academy and played some fine football against good standard of opponents, one of the highlights seeing Charlie Pickworth finish off a great passing move between the team.
Every player was awarded man of the match due to good quality football and attitude.
The U8 Whites played against Pelican with good spirit and effort against a strong team and a goal from Byron Hatton Lowe. Manager’s man of the match was George Moore and parents man of the match Jamie Caress.
The U7 Blues played against a tough Lowdham Colts with a great goalkeeping performance from Kyran Thompson and defensive performances from Thomas Shirley and Alfie Kirk.
