PRO FOOTBALL: Derby draw a blank in front of goal again

The goalscoring struggles of high-flying Derby County continued as they failed to find the net for a fourth league game in a row as they drew 0-0 away at Reading in the Championship.

Still in third place, the Rams’ hopes of automatic promotion are quickly drifting away and took another dent at the Madejski Stadium against play-off chasing Reading.

After a scrappy contest, Derby are ten points behind second-placed Burnley with Leicester City streaking away in the race for the title.

The closest Derby came to finding a breakthrough was when Craig Forsyth scooped over from close range having been found well by Jamie Ward, who was doing his best to wake the locals from their slumber.

For Reading, their best sight of goal was as substitute Adam Le Fondre found himself in a good position, only to mishit from a few yards out.

All attentions of Rams fans now switch to the vital derby against Nottingham Forest in the early kick-off at the iPro on Saturday.
