Jacksdale motorcycle star Kyle Ryde was in action on his ‘home’ circuit last weekend as the BSB British Superbikes series came to Donington Park.
Ryde, who competes in the Superstock 600 series, produced some good times in Friday’s practice sessions, going third quickest overall.
Wet weather then played a part in proceedings for the remainder of the weekend, but that didn’t stop Ryde putting in further encouraging displays in Saturday’s qualifying sessions, going second fastest in Q1 and then third fastest in Q2, the latter meaning he would start third on the grid for Sunday’s race.
Ultimately the conditions would again prove tricky for most of the field, including Ryde, who had to settle for an eighth place finish.
He said: “I was disappointed with eighth and I feel I should have pushed a bit harder, but the conditions weren’t really to my liking.
“I’m now looking forward to the next round at Snetterton.”
The race was won by current championship leader Andy Reid, with Ryde’s team-mate Joe Francis taking third.
Sunday’s result means Ryde is fourth in the overall standings with 32 points, ten behind Joe Collier in third.
The next meeting at Snetterton takes place on June 13, 14 and 15.
