Swimmers impress in regional champs

The first weekend of the Midland Age Group Championships saw several Kimberley SC and Nova Centurion swimmers.

Jimi Knowles, Joseph Kingsland, Bradley Francis and Mathew Shipley were all in action in a number of events and Chloe Bis in the 100m backstroke, both Jimi and Chloe competing in their first Regional Championships.

Based on the overall points from the best event in each of the categories, in the 10yrs age group Jimi Knowles is currently third while in the 11yrs group Bradley Francis is fourth and Joseph Kingsland ninth.

In the 12yrs group, Matthew Shipley is 11th, but positions could well change with lots of events still to come this weekend.

Last Saturday, youngsters from Kimberley travelled to Worksop for the Novice Gala.

Thomas Palin, Tallulah Whiting and Dan Everall competed in their first galas and earned personal bests in the process, with other PBs achieved by Caitlin Smith, William Francis, Annaleise Howell, Emily Bettridge, Robert Smith, Aaron Stanley (x2) Isobell Shephard, Lewis Rounce, Ciaran Smith, Adam Rounce (x2) Amelia Morar-Sedgwick, Ella Maher, Will Moore, Amy Sheldon, Matthew Jackson and Ripley Manchester.

First places went to Caitlin Smith, Finley Bunhejee, Will Moore, Amy Sheldon, Matthew Jackson and to swimmers in five of the relays.
