Swimmers star for Nova

Several members of Kimberley Swimming Club were in action for the Nottinghamshire County squad, Nova Centurion, at the Rotherham Metro Open Meet in Sheffield last weekend.

The event at Ponds Forge saw Kimberley’s swimmers compete strongly.

Imogen Spouge (9yrs age group) claimed victory in the 200m individual medley and was third in the 200m freestyle.

Eleanor Aboutorab, competing in the same age group, came in second in the 200m backstroke.

Bradley Francis (10 yrs) performed well to take second in the 200m freestyle, third in the 200m backstroke, third in the 200m individual medley and third again in the 400m freestyle.

Mathew Shipley (11yrs) was victorious the 400m individual medley, second in the 200m individual medley and third in the 200m freestyle.

Charly Neilson (13yrs), meanwhile, was second in the 200m backstroke and third in the 100m breastroke.

Shipley, Neilson and clubmate Mollie Wright (14yrs age group) have all now qualified to compete in the British Gas ASA Midland Age Group Championships which will be held in Coventry on June 1/2 and 8/9.
