Underwood keep the pressure on with romp at Ashland Rovers

None of the top three in the Senior Division were in action at the weekend, fourth-placed Cotgrave the only team to make serious ground on leaders Selston with a 2-1 win over Bingham Town.

Awsworth Villa continue to struggle as they fell 4-1 at Ruddington Village to stay second from bottom, Villa all set to face basement side Kirton Brickworks this weekend.

In Division One, Underwood Villa romped to a 5-0 win away at Ashland Rovers and are now just six points behind leaders Newark Flowserve and with three games in hand, Flowserve helping their cause by losing on Saturday.

Kimberley MW Reserves enjoyed a 4-0 home win over Southwell City Reserves and remain sixth in the table.

Danny Chaplin headed the first goal following a Luke Hodgman corner, Sean Chapman making it 2-0 with a spectacular goal not long afterwards.

The two wing backs combined for the third goal as Lee Johnson’s cross was turned home by Scott Carlile, before the win was wrapped up with a carbon copy of the first goal as Chaplin headed home another Hodgman corner.

In Division Two, Watnall Athletic relinquished top spot as their 2-0 loss at home to FC Samba was coupled with an emphatic 12-0 win for Aspley Park who move into the lead.

Kimberley MW AFC, however, are just three points behind and still have five games in hand on the leaders and won 1-0 against Bilborough, thanks to Ben Greenhalgh’s goal.
