Villa make semi-finals with win at Bridgford

A round-up of the action involving our local teams in the Nottinghamshire Senior League.

It was Notts Intermediate Cup quarter-finals weekend in the NSL and Awsworth Villa made it into the semi-finals with a 5-3 win at West Bridgford.

But Awsworth Villa’s Reserve side weren’t so fortunate in the Junior Cup quarter-finals as they fell to a 4-2 defeat against Retford Town despite two goals from Ryan Elliott, House with two, Bonser and Met on target for Retford.

Moorgreen were also knocked out of the Junior Cup by FC Sutton Foresters, losing 2-1.

In the Senior Division, Kimberley Miners Welfare were beaten 2-1 at home by Attenborough, Chaplin on target for Welfare but Burke and Myton doing the damage for Attenborough as they claimed three points.

In Division One, Underwood Villa earned a 1-1 draw at Gedling Southbank, Bates on target for the visitors and Baldry for Gedling.

In Division Two Kimberley Miners Welfare Reserves were, like their first team, also defeated as they lost 3-2 at home to Linby Colliery Welfare Reserves who had Ross Cheeseman scoring a brace and Ant Wallis the other, Lee Johnson and Gavin Powell scoring Kimberley’s goals.

Selston Reserves won 2-0 against Kirton Brickworks thanks to strikes by Daniel Severn and Watson Charlesworth.
