Kimberley Miners Welfare’s EMPAL side have claimed the club’s first silverware of the season by winning the County Cup with a 3-0 victory over title-chasing rivals Clifton Dynamo .
After being controversially thrown out at the quarter-final stages last season, Welfare this time made up for that disappointment with a convincing victory.
It was a dream start for the Welfare as Dec Smith fired them ahead after just 56 seconds.
Kimberley withheld pressure and the impressive Dec Smith hit the woodwork and also saw a curling effort go millimetres wide.
Clifton attacked early in the second-half before a superb cross from Martin Lench was superbly headed home from Danny Walsh to put Welfare two goals to the good.
Kimberley kept attacking and substitute Adam Mahl rounded off the scoring in injury-time to bring the trophy home.
