JACKSDALE racer Kyle Ryde had to endure treacherous conditions at the Assen circuit in Holland at the weekend as he competed in rounds seven and eight of the Moto GP RedBull Rookies series.
Having had a long wait, Ryde ended up qualifying 24th in awful weather which didn’t improve by the time Friday’s first race came around.
But he adopted a safe ride strategy to finish 20th and hope for improved weather for the second race on Saturday.
But grey clouds gathered again and a wet race was once more declared.
Settling into another safe spot at the rear of the field, Ryde progressed up to a battle for 17th spot which he fought out with American Joe Roberts and Portuguese rider Ivo Lopes.
And by the end of the race the Nottinghamshire rider crossed the line in 14th spot - a much -improved placing from previous day’s race.
Round nine of the series takes place at Muggello in Italy this weekend.
