World of Sport: Nick Kyrgios fined £6,400 for telling Stanislas Wawrinka another played ‘banged his girlfriend’

Tennis bad boy Nick Kyrgios has been fined £6,400 after telling Stanislas Wawrinka how a fellow pro player had slept with the Swiss players girlfiend.

On-court microphones picked up the Aussie saying “(Thanasi) Kokkinakis banged your girlfriend. Sorry to tell you that mate.”

Two-time grand slam winner Wawrinka divorced his wife Ilham earlier this year and has since been romantically linked with 19-year-old Croatian player Donna Vekic.

Andy Murray progressed to the last eight of the Rogers Cup with a comfortable 6-3 6-2 win over Gilles Muller in Montreal.

Meanwhile, top seed Novak Djokovic cruised to the quarter-finals with 6-2 6-1 win over Jack Sock of the USA.

In Super League Warrington Wolves face a mountain to climb if they are to keep their Grand Final dream alive after a nail-biting 17-16 defeat at Castleford.

Warrington, who have lost two of the last three Grand Finals, trail Castleford by six points with five more Super 8 matches to go.

Birmingham Bears moved into the T20 Blast semi-finals with a 24-run victory over Essex Eagles at Edgbaston.

The defending champions will look to make it two successive T20 crowns on their home ground for Finals Day on 29 August.

Birmingham recovered from a slow start to post 189-5, before Essex could only make 165-6 in reply.
