Yong rallies Badgers fans

EASTWOOD Town owner Robert Yong has urged fans to get behind the club's players and staff as they continue to build for the future.

There was heavy criticism of the regime among some quarters towards the end of last season, with many fans disgruntled at the Badgers' form and the failure to gain a play-off place.

But in a message to fans on the club's official website, Yong said unity is vital if Eastwood are to progress.

He said: "Over most of last season and continuing into this close season, I have been bitterly disappointed at the reaction of a minority of our supporters towards myself, Paul Cox, the players and the club in general.

"Whilst I want as many fans to watch our homes games as possible, I would prefer those who are not happy with how the club is being operated to save their hard earned money and come back when I am no longer involved.

"Also, our once busy, informative and friendly website forum has become a ghost town, with many fans, including myself, distancing ourselves from it.

"There has been pressure to just shut it down from many parties, but I have resisted thus far."

But Yong was positive about the Badgers' chances next season.

"I'm keeping my fingers crossed for us to be at the right end of the table for most of next season and have a much stronger finish than we did this campaign," he added.
