EASTWOOD Town will go into next Tuesday's play-off semi-final full of confidence and belief according to boss Paul Cox.
With third place in the league set in stone, they will host fifth-placed Bradford Park Avenue, who they have beaten twice this season already.
Whilst those wins may give the Badgers a slight psychological advantage over their Yorkshire opponents, Cox is fully aware of the dangers Avenue possess.
"They're probably the form side in the league at the moment, not having lost since we beat them at the end of March, and have just appointed a full-time manager.
"They have splashed the cash about and have some very good players, so will be very difficult to beat.
"But I've said all along that we're capable of beating anyone in this division on our day, and if we approach the game correctly and show our confidence, we'll get through to the final."
Cox is also hoping his players rise to the challenge of a big game being at home, as they have done on previous occasions this season.
He added: "When you look at games like the Telford cup tie and the game against Hucknall, we seemed to cope better with those games than we did in some of the league games against the struggling sides.
"Hopefully we can do the same again, and whilst being at home puts more pressure on the players, that shouldn't matter as the rewards are there for all to see.
"Nobody will have wanted to play us, as all the sides in the play-off zone have had tough matches against us this season."
Cox was speaking before Thursday's Nottinghamshire Senior Cup Final, and said his main concern was ensuring he had a fully fit squad not only for that match, but also for the game at Colwyn Bay on Saturday and Tuesday's play-off.
He said: "As was probably predictable with the amount of games we've played, we've picked up a few injuries and that could affect my selection options for the matches coming up.
"I've got concerns over a few players for the Notts final and for the trip to Colwyn Bay, and as we need to make sure we've got a fully-fit squad for the play-offs I'm hoping they'll recover in time."
Cox was disappointed with the manner in which Eastwood were defeated 2-1 at home to Bamber Bridge on Saturday, despite the match not being as vital as those before or after it.
He said: "The performance was unacceptable. I accept the players' minds may have been elsewhere in terms of the big games coming up, but our effort and technique were not up to the standard I expect every game.
"I made it clear to them that if we play like that in any of these vital matches then we'll end up with nothing."
Bamber Bridge's winning goal came as a result of a mistake by goalkeeper Ian Deakin, but Cox refused to criticise the 19-year-old who has had an outstanding season.
"Deaks' record of 23 clean sheets speaks for itself, he's been brilliant all season.
"He's a young lad and will come back stronger for it, and he's got a great chance now to go into the play-offs and produce the quality he's shown all season and help us get promoted," added the Eastwood manager.
