Bands galore as Y Not returns

The months of waiting are over and the fingers are crossed for some favourable weather.

Yes, the popular Y Not Festival is back for 2016, and this year it will be taking place over the weekend of Friday, July 29,to Sunday, July 31 - and it’s a sell out already.

Winner of the award for Best Medium Sized Festival at the 2015 Festival Awards, this year’s Y Not will attract festivalgoers from far and wide to Pikehall near Matlock.

There are local and national bands galore playing on a number of stages.

Among the top names and headliners performing at Y Not 2016 are Editors, Madness, Noel Gallagher’s High Flying Birds, plus The Hives, Catfish and The Bottlemen, The Cribs, Everything Everything, Circa Waves, Kelis, Band of Skulls, Fun Lovin’ Criminals and The Coral, to name just a few.

As if that all wasn’t enough, there’s also appearances by Rat Boy, Eliza And The Bear, Lauren Aquilina, The Amazons, Ngod, New Desert Blues and Mr Motivator.

You can also expect sets from Milky Chance, King Pleasure and The Biscuit Boys, Vant, Will Joseph Cook and Kagoule.

Local bands and performers also will feature prominently at Y Not 2016. On the bill are the likes of Trash, Kagoule, Lucy Spraggan, Nai Harvest, The Sherlocks, Ferocious Dog, Blossoms, Heck, Patawawa, I set the sea on fire and The Petebox.

Y Not Festival director Simon Mawbey commented: “We thought it could be hard to top last year’s tenth anniversary but having sold out even earlier this year we think 2016 could be the festival’s best yet.

“We’re extremely excited to open the gates for all our Y Not-ers.”
