THE Incredible Doctor Guttmann is to be performed at Heanor Baptist Church on Thursday, November 22, from 7.30pm.

Written by Nicholas McInerny, the play is currently on its world premiere tour and tells the story behind the very first Paralympics.

As London hosts the 1948 Olympics, Stoke Mandeville hospital gets ready to stage the first games for disabled ex-servicemen and women.

Doctor Ludwig Guttmann is about to pioneer one of the biggest revolutions in medical and social history.

The play is compelling and moving drama that is based on the true story of how these ordinary men and women became the vanguard of the modern Paralympics as Guttmann built a sports team ready to take on the world.

The church is based on Derby Road, Heanor, and tickets are available by calling the box office on 01773 718676.
