British sculptor Conrad Shawcross completes the cast of 25 artists, curators and writers appearing at The Chatsworth Festival – Art Out Loud.

This major new literary festival dedicated to art runs from, September 18-20.

Shawcross, the youngest living Academician at the Royal Academy, London, stole the show at this year’s Royal Academy Summer Exhibition with his vast modular sculpture The Dappled Light of the Sun (pictured).

A variation of this sculpture will be on view at Chatsworth as part of Beyond Limits: The Landscape of British Sculpture 1950-2015 ( September 14-October 25), Sotheby’s 10th annual monumental sculpture exhibition, which coincides with The Chatsworth Festival – Art Out Loud.

To discuss his RA and Beyond Limits installations, artistic influences, the inspiration behind his work and the role played by his fascination with maths and logic, Shawcross will appear in conversation with Tim Marlow, artistic director of the Royal Academy and Beyond Limits guest curator, at 4.30pm on Sunday, September 20.

He joins festival speakers including Turner Prize winner Grayson Perry; conceptual artist and painter Michael Craig-Martin; writer and BBC Arts Editor Will Gompertz; novelists Esther Freud and Hannah Rothschild; and many more.

The Dappled Light of the Sun features among more than 30 monumental sculptures at Sotheby’s Beyond Limits exhibition in the grounds of Chatsworth – the largest Beyond Limits show to date. Other highlights include Barbara Hepworth’s Three Obliques (Walk-In) and Anthony Caro’s ‘Sunshine, alongside works by Antony Gormley, Sarah Lucas, Reg Butler and Philip King.
