A HA Ha Road film season and a new collection for the BFI Mediatheque at Quad will compliment the new exhibition, Ha Ha Road, at the Derby arts centre next month.
Planes, Trains And Automobiles (15), from 1987, stars Steve Martin and John Candy as two reluctant travelling companions as they team up to travel cross country back home for Thanksgiving. A classic comedy, it screens on September 12 at 6.05pm and September 13 at 2pm and 8.30pm.
O Brother Where Art Thou? (12A) from 2000, is the Coen Brothers’ take on Homer’s epic poem The Odyssey, transposing the tale from ancient Greece to the Deep South of the 1930s, complete with gangsters, convicts, chain gangs, campaigning governors, the KKK, sirens, and great floods. It screens on September 14 at 2pm, September 16 at 8.15pm, September 17 at 6.15pm and September 21 at 8.15pm.
Finally, Everything Is Illuminated (12A) from 2005, is based on the best-selling novel by Jonathan Safran Foer. It follows the story of a young Jewish man trying to find a woman who saved his grandfather during World War II. He embarks on Starring Elijah Wood, it screens on September 23 at 6.10pm and September 24, at 8.10pm.
