Derby-based arts centre Quad is hosting more outdoor film screenings in locations throughout Derbyshire this summer.
Summer Nights Film Festival, presented in association with Flint Bishop, offers a chance to enjoy the great outdoors for a unique cinematic experience. Screenings include family features, classic and contemporary films in locations including National Trust properties, historic homes alongside popular local attractions.
Family Friendly, sing-a-long films include: Grease (PG) the ultimate High School Musical, at The Lime Kiln, Wirksworth on Saturday, September 8 and Mamma Mia (PG), which features a host of ABBA songs, at Calke Abbey on Saturday, August 11.
Three literary adaptations also feature in the season. War Horse (12A), based on the children’s novel by Michael Morpurgo, can be seen at Hardwick Hall on Friday, August 31 and The Pavilion, Rolls-Royce Leisure, Derby on Friday, September 14.
In his first main film role since Harry Potter, Daniel Radcliffe stars in an adaptation of the legendary novel Susan Hill The Woman in Black (12A) at Calke Abbey: on Friday 10th August and The Lime Kiln in Wirksworth on Friday, September 7. Based on the novel by Charlotte Bronte, Pride and Prejudice (U), from 2006, was shot on location throughout Derbyshire including Chatsworth House, Haddon Hall and Stanage Edge, and screens at Kedleston Hall on Saturday, August 18.
Three classic films can also be seen as part of the festival; The 39 Steps is seen as the pinnacle of Alfred Hitchcock’s British career, this original version of the film from 1935 can be seen at Kedleston Hall on Friday, August 17. The classic romance Casablanca (U) starring Humphrey Bogart and Ingrid Bergman, screens at Hardwick Hall: on Saturday, September 1. Battle Of Britain (PG), from 1940, powerfully recreates the air battles and emotions of the Second World War in an all-star cast led by Michael Caine and can be seen as the final Summer Nights screening at The Pavilion, Rolls-Royce Leisure, Derby, on Saturday, September 15.
