DOG owners and their four-legged friends helped a local dog rescue centre raise £4,000 at its annual dog show and fun day this weekend.
Babbington Hall Kennels put on the yearly event to raise cash for building work that will start later this year.
Around 500 people showed their support on the day and many took their pets with them.
Owner of the centre, Tony Sanderson, said: “It was a brilliant day and everyone enjoyed themselves, including the dogs.
“There were two rings and lots of classes for dogs to enter, it was great to see rescue dogs taking part, some from Babbington but others from different rescue centres.
“All of the money is going into our building fund which will be used to knock down and replace the main kennel building which we are hoping to start in November.”
Local animal charities and businesses manned stalls that helped to add to the total raised.
Babbington bosses hope the kennel project will start in the winter but the charity needs between £90,000 and £100,000 to complete the work.
They have already raised some of the money but need £26,000 for plans to go ahead.
Babbington takes in one per cent of the country’s stray and abandoned dogs.
They provide food, shelter and medical care for the animals before rehoming them.
