Have your say

There is a space theme to some of the forthcoming family activities planned at Derby arts centre in QUAD.

For those that have ever wanted to travel to their own solar system, Digital Space Journeys: Building a Solar System is a chance to imagine what this could look like, designing and animating your own sun, planets and more.

Learn skills in 3D animation, motion simulation and particle effects using industry standard software including Autodesk Maya and After Effects.

The artworks produced will also be displayed in QUAD as part of the Grand Space Tour Participation Exhibition. Suitable for all ages, Digital Space Journeys: Building a Solar System takes place on Saturday, August 8, 1pm until 3.30pm, the cost is £5 per person.

An activity organised in conjunction with the Royal Institute of British Architects (RIBA) and inspired by the story The Little Prince by Antoine de Saint-Exupéry, Designing Your World: Home Planets workshop is a chance to work with chartered architects from the Royal Institute of British Architects (RIBA) to develop drawing and designing skills and create a planet to live in.

Designing Your World with RIBA takes place on Saturday, August 1, from 11am to 4pm. This free drop-in event is suitable for all ages.

There is a chance to bring your ideas to life in a 3D Modelling: Digital Space Journeys workshop. 3D modelling is used in computer games and films to create realistic and cartoon vehicles, environments and characters. Learn the basics of 3D modelling to create a space transport to journey through the cosmos. The 3D models will be printed and then displayed in QUAD as part of the Grand Space Tour Participation Exhibition. Suitable for all ages, Digital Space Journeys: 3D Modelling takes place on August 15, 1pm, the cost is £5. See www.derbyquad.co.uk for more.
