NOTTINGHAM Symphony Orchestra make their first appearance of 2011 at the city’s Albert Hall on Saturday, March 12.

The programme, to be conducted by Derek Williams, features works by three of the leading British composers of the 20th century.

Benjamin Britten’s atmospheric Four Sea Interludes from his opera Peter Grimes are followed by William Walton’s pyrotechnic Violin Concerto, with guest soloist Clare Howick, and then Edward Elgar’s Enigma Variations which, although first heard 1899, have become a cornerstone of the British 20th century repertoire.

The concert begins at 7.30pm and tickets cost £12 for back stalls (concessions £11), £11 for arena and side stalls(concessions £9 and, for under 21s, £6). They are available from the Nottingham Playhouse box office on 0115 9419419 and other selected outlets.
