Comics flock to city venue

Comedy fans are in for a treat this weekend when the latest selection of stand-up performers appear at Nottingham’s Jongleurs comedy club.

The club is based on Thurland Street in the city centre.

Appearing at the popular venue on both Friday, August 1, and Saturday, August 2, will be Patrick Rolink, Jarlath Regan, Paul Pirie and Phil Walker.

n Hot Club of Cowtown are to perform a gig at Glee Club Nottingham and tickets are now on sale.

Elana James (vocals, violin), Whit Smith (vocals, guitar) and Jake Erwin (double bass) make up Hot Club of Cowtown.

From the bright lights of the Grand Ol’ Opry to Glastonbury and Cambridge Festivals, and appearances on Later with Jools Holland, The Hot Club of Cowtown has ascended from its beginnings in East Village to become the premier trader of Hot Jazz and Western Swing.

The trio have been hired for tours with Bob Dylan and Willie Nelson, first opening for them, then playing alongside them.

Doors open at 7pm for the gig at Glee Club Nottingham.
