DCO to play Schubert

Derby Concert Orchestra’s first performance of their 2014-2015 season is to take place on Saturday, October 18.

The venue is to be St Peter’s Church in Littleover, Derby, and the concert starts at 7pm.

Conducted by Jonathan Trout, the concert will feature three pieces.

The concert starts with Mozart’s popular overture to his opera The Magic Flute.

This is followed by a rare chance to hear Robert Schumann’s attractive Konzertstuck for Four Horns and Orchestra.

The second half is given over to Schubert’s Ninth Symphony, ‘The Great’, one of the composer most substantial and acclaimed works..

Tickets are £12 (£10 concessions). Under 16s get in free with an adult.

Later in the season, the orchestra will be at Derby Cathedral on December 6 for a family concert titled Music On The Move.

Here you will find An American in Paris, The Onedin Line, Coronation Scot and other entertaining music celebrating the ‘journey’, plus Christmas favourites and carols. The concert starts at 7pm.
