Dynamic duo to play at Derby Jazz gig

The first Derby Jazz showcase of 2014 takes place on Friday, January 10.

The performers on the night will be Jim Hart and Ivo Neame and the venue is Cube at Deda, based on Chapel Street in Derby city centre.

The gig gets under way at 8pm.

Multi-instrumentalists Jim Hart (Stan Sulzmann’s Neon, and The Liquorice Allsorts with Alan Barnes and Paul Clarvis) and Ivo Neame (Phronesis) had been playing together for five years before they helped found the hugely influential LOOP Collective in 2005.

Working in each other’s bands and together in other projects, they have developed a superb empathy which allows their music to be open and fluid while remaining rhythmically charged.

Jim has been described as “one of the brightest stars on the UK and European Jazz scene” while Ivo Neame is acclaimed as “one of the finest arrangers, composers and multi-instrumentalists of his generation”.

Tickets to see Jim Hart and Ivo Neame in action at Deda on Friday, January 10 are £10.
