DERBY Jazz’s latest concert at the Assembly Rooms in Derby is to take place on Friday, April 27, and features Tim Garland.
Saxophonist, composer and sometime Bill Bruford and Chick Corea sideman, Tim Garland has an imagination that ranges over so much territory.
Playing originals with Spanish, Middle Eastern and South American rhythms and jazz classics by Bill Evans and Charlie Mingus, Tim Garland’s inspired tenor and soprano saxophone solos are perfectly balanced by the graceful improvisations of the young piano star Gwilym Simcock and underpinned by the painterly excursion of Asaf Sirkis.
There is jazz in the foyer from 7pm and the the gig in the Darwin Suite starts from 8pm.
Tickets are £12 (£10 concessions) and are available by calling the box office on 01332 255800.
