Lots to enjoy in Little’s concert

The European Union Chamber Orchestra will be the next performers in the Classical Music Season 2013-2014 at Derby’s Assembly Rooms.

They will be playing there on Tuesday, February 11, from 7.30pm.

Directed by Hans-Peter Hofmann, they will be joined by star violin soloist Tasmin Little.

The programme features an arrangement of Gustav Holst’s AMoorside Suite, originally composedfor brass band.

Also on the programme will be Mozart’s Violin Concerto No 4, the same composer’s Symphony No 4, plus Sibelius’s Romance For Strings.

Later in the season, on April 2, Derby-based Sinfonia Viva make their latest appearance at the venue.

The orchestra, to be conducted by Garry Walker will be teaming up with top cello soloist Guy Johnston to play Schumann’s Cello Concerto.

Sinfonia Viva’s concert also features Haydn’s Il Ritorno Tobias Overture, Wagner’s Siegfried Idyll, Sibelius’s Valse Triste and Scene With Cranes, plus Beethoven’s First Symphony.

Then, on April 29, The Halle pay a visit, conducted by Stephen Bell.
